1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using this website (the “Site” or “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you must immediately stop using the Site.

This Site is intended for users aged 13 and older. By using the Site, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years of age. Users under the age of 16 in the European Union must have obtained verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian before registering an account or submitting content.

2. Description of Service

The Site provides map-based information related to anime pilgrimage locations. Users can browse maps and related content for personal, non-commercial reference. Registered users may also create an account, submit user-generated content (such as photos and location posts), and interact with community features. Features may be expanded, modified, or discontinued at any time without notice.

3. Account Registration

To access certain features, you may be required to register for an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Keep your account credentials confidential and not share them with any other person
  • Notify us promptly if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Be solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • Maintain only one active account at a time, unless expressly authorized by us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in harmful or abusive conduct, or that we determine in our sole discretion to be detrimental to the Service or its users.

When you register, you will be assigned or may choose a user ID (profile slug) that identifies your public profile. Certain user IDs are reserved and cannot be registered, including but not limited to names that match system routes, brand names, trademarks, public figures, or terms designated by the operator. We reserve the right to change, reclaim, or suspend any user ID at our sole discretion and without prior notice, including where:

  • The user ID impersonates or mimics a well-known brand, trademark, public figure, or another user
  • The user ID matches a reserved or prohibited term
  • The user ID violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines
  • The user ID is claimed by its legitimate trademark holder through a formal request

User IDs are provided on a first-come, first-served basis and do not confer any ownership rights. We are not liable for any loss, inconvenience, or damages resulting from a user ID change, reclaim, or suspension.

4. User-Generated Content

Users may submit content including photos, location information, and other materials (“User Content”) to the Site. By submitting User Content, you grant Anime Pilgrimage a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to use, display, reproduce, distribute, and promote your content to the extent necessary to operate, provide, improve, and promote the Service, including on our official social media channels.

The sublicensable nature of this license allows us to deliver your content through third-party infrastructure providers (such as our CDN and cloud storage services) solely for the purpose of operating the Service. We do not sell your User Content to third parties, and we do not use your User Content to train AI or machine learning models.

You represent and warrant that: (a) you own or have all necessary rights and permissions to submit your User Content and to grant the license above; (b) your User Content does not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any intellectual property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other rights of any third party; and (c) your User Content complies with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Anime Pilgrimage and its operators, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your User Content, your breach of the representations and warranties above, or your violation of any third party’s rights.

When you delete a post, the license granted above terminates for that specific content, and we will remove it from the Site. Deleted content may remain on our infrastructure (including CDN caches and backup systems) for up to 30 days before it is fully purged. You retain ownership of your User Content at all times.

5. Prohibited Content

You agree not to submit or post content that:

  • Infringes on the copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity
  • Is defamatory, harassing, threatening, abusive, hateful, or otherwise harmful to any individual or group
  • Contains sexually explicit, obscene, or adult-oriented material
  • Constitutes spam, unsolicited advertising, or repetitive irrelevant posts
  • Contains false, misleading, or deceptive information
  • Violates any applicable law or regulation in any jurisdiction
  • Invades or violates the privacy or publicity rights of any third party
  • Contains malicious code, viruses, or any software intended to damage or interfere with any system or data

6. Content Moderation

We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to review, approve, reject, remove, hide, or restrict access to any User Content that we determine, in our sole and absolute discretion, violates these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or is otherwise inappropriate or harmful. We may act without prior notice to the user. Repeated violations may result in account suspension or permanent termination.

We are not liable for any failure or delay in removing content that violates these Terms, nor for any content submitted by users that we have not reviewed. Our moderation activities do not create any duty or obligation to review all submitted content.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on this Site that is not User Content — including but not limited to text, design, code, logos, graphics, and the arrangement thereof — is owned by the Site operator or the respective rightful copyright holders. Unauthorized reproduction, redistribution, modification, or commercial use of such content is strictly prohibited. Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership rights in the Site’s content.

Anime titles, character names, images, and related intellectual property referenced on this Site are the property of their respective owners and rights holders. We operate under the good-faith belief that the use of such references for fan-oriented informational purposes does not infringe applicable intellectual property rights. 8. Prohibited Activities

In addition to the content restrictions above, you agree not to:

  • Reproduce, redistribute, modify, or commercially exploit the Site’s content or features without our express written permission
  • Engage in unauthorized access to, or interference with, any part of the Site or its underlying infrastructure, including servers, networks, and databases
  • Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, crawlers, or similar methods to systematically collect, extract, or monitor data from the Site without our prior written authorization
  • Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security features, rate limiting, authentication mechanisms, or access controls of the Site
  • Register or operate multiple accounts for the purpose of evading account suspension or circumventing usage limits
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity
  • Engage in any conduct that could damage, overload, or impair the performance of the Site or interfere with other users’ use of the Service
  • Use the Site in any manner that violates applicable laws or regulations, including privacy laws, intellectual property laws, and export control laws
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of any software used in connection with the Site

9. Copyright Infringement (DMCA)

We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same. If you believe that content on this Site infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  • The URL or specific location of the allegedly infringing content on the Site

Upon receiving a valid and complete notice, we will promptly investigate and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content. We reserve the right to terminate accounts of users who are repeat infringers.

10. Account Suspension and Service Termination

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account or access to the Service at our sole discretion, with or without cause, and with or without prior notice. Grounds for termination include, but are not limited to: violation of these Terms, engaging in harmful or abusive conduct, prolonged account inactivity, or any activity we determine to be detrimental to the Service or its users. We also reserve the right to modify, suspend, or permanently discontinue the Site or any part thereof — including all features, content, and user data — at any time, for any reason or no reason, with or without notice. We shall have no obligation to provide advance notice, export or preserve your data, or migrate your content upon discontinuation. You expressly acknowledge and agree that we shall not be liable to you or any third party for any loss, damages, costs, or expenses of any kind — whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise — arising from or related to any such modification, suspension, or permanent discontinuation of the Service.

Upon termination of your account or the Service for any reason, all rights and licenses granted to you under these Terms will immediately cease. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, and 20) shall survive any expiration or termination of these Terms.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Anime Pilgrimage and its operators, officers, directors, employees, contractors, licensors, and agents from and against any and all claims, suits, actions, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments, penalties, fines, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees and court costs) arising out of or in any way related to:

  • Your use of or access to the Site or Service
  • Your User Content or any content you submit, post, or transmit through the Site
  • Your violation of these Terms or any applicable law or regulation
  • Your violation of any rights of a third party, including intellectual property rights
  • Any claim that your User Content caused damage to a third party or infringes any third-party rights

We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate fully with our defense of such claim.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, FEATURES, AND SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH IT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, reliability, or currentness of any content on the Site, including user-generated content, location data, or map information. You assume all risk arising from your use of the Site.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so the above exclusions may not apply to you in full. In such jurisdictions, our warranties are limited to the minimum extent required by applicable law.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ANIME PILGRIMAGE OR ITS OPERATORS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, LOSS OF ACCESS TO CONTENT OR FEATURES, SERVICE INTERRUPTION, COMPUTER DAMAGE, SYSTEM FAILURE, OR THE COST OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE — INCLUDING AS A RESULT OF ANY MODIFICATION, SUSPENSION, OR PERMANENT DISCONTINUATION OF THE SERVICE — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNTS ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $10 (TEN US DOLLARS).

The limitations above do not apply to liability arising from our fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, or to any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

14. Service Availability

We do not guarantee that the Site will be available at all times or without interruption. The Site may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, technical failures, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We are not liable for any inconvenience, loss of access, or damages resulting from service interruptions, regardless of the cause or duration.

15. Location Data and Map Accuracy

GPS coordinates, map pins, and location information provided on this Site — whether submitted by our team or by users — are provided for reference purposes only. We make no warranty, express or implied, as to their accuracy, completeness, currentness, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Physical locations change over time. Facilities may close, move, or change their access rules. GPS signals may be imprecise. You are solely responsible for independently verifying all location information before visiting any physical location referenced on this Site.

We are not responsible for any injury, loss, property damage, legal consequences, trespassing charges, or any other harm arising from your reliance on location data or map information provided on this Site, or from your decision to visit any physical location referenced herein. You acknowledge that visiting pilgrimage locations is an activity that carries inherent risks, and you assume all such risks.

16. User Disputes

We are not responsible for any disputes between users, including but not limited to claims of unauthorized use of photographs, disagreements over location accuracy, or conflicts arising from user-submitted content. We have no obligation to mediate, arbitrate, or otherwise intervene in disputes between users.

If you have a complaint about content submitted by another user, please use the in-app reporting feature or contact us at [email protected]. We will review reports at our sole discretion but are not obligated to take any particular action in response to a report.

17. Public Nature of Posts

All posts submitted to this Site are publicly visible to all visitors by default, including unregistered users. By submitting a post, you acknowledge and agree that your content — including photos, location information, and any associated metadata — will be accessible to the general public and may be indexed by search engines. We do not offer private or restricted-visibility posting at this time.

18. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from any cause beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, civil unrest, terrorism, pandemics, government actions, internet or telecommunications failures, third-party service outages, or any other event outside our control.

19. Waiver of Class Action Rights

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU AGREE THAT ANY CLAIM OR DISPUTE ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL BE BROUGHT ONLY IN YOUR INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS ACTION, COLLECTIVE ACTION, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. YOU EXPRESSLY WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN SUCH PROCEEDINGS. If this waiver is found to be unenforceable, then the entirety of this Section shall be null and void.

20. General Provisions

Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines (incorporated herein by reference), constitute the entire agreement between you and Anime Pilgrimage with respect to your use of the Site and supersede all prior and contemporaneous agreements, representations, and understandings.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed from these Terms if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. No waiver of any provision shall be effective unless made in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Anime Pilgrimage.

Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any of your rights or obligations hereunder without our prior written consent. We may freely assign these Terms, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Export Control. You agree not to use, export, or re-export the Site or any content in violation of applicable export control laws and regulations.

21. Modification of Terms

We reserve the right to revise these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after the revised Terms have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Site.

Community Guidelines

Your photos and experiences help fellow anime fans discover the exact spots where their favorite scenes came to life. Every post you share builds a living map of pilgrimage locations — created by fans, for fans.

These guidelines apply to all user-submitted posts on Anime Pilgrimage. By submitting a post, you agree to follow these guidelines and the Terms of Service above.

Posts and Places

Anime Pilgrimage has two layers of content:

  • Posts (this guideline applies here): Your personal experiences and photos, shared as-is with the community. Posts appear in the Posts tab of each anime page.
  • Places (Overview): Verified locations reviewed and approved by our team. These appear as pins on the map.

CG1. What Makes a Good Post

A good post helps other fans find and experience the same moment. It:

  • Is a photo taken at the actual pilgrimage location
  • Features the location as the main subject (rather than a selfie)
  • Is linked to a specific anime title and, where possible, a specific episode or scene
  • Includes accurate GPS coordinates so others can find the exact spot

CG2. Photo Guidelines

Do not submit photos or images without explicit permission from the photographer.

  • Angle matching: Photos that recreate the scene from the original anime are encouraged, but not required
  • No excessive editing: Editing is acceptable, but avoid processing that misrepresents the actual appearance of the location
  • Personal information: Be mindful of identifiable individuals appearing in your photos. Avoid making any person the clear and unintended main subject without their consent.
  • No AI-generated images: Do not submit AI-generated photos or videos presented as real location shots
  • No unauthorized images: Do not submit images without explicit permission from the photographer

CG3. Location Accuracy

Accurate location data is at the heart of what we do. Posts with inaccurate data cannot help other fans and may be removed during moderation. Please ensure:

  • GPS coordinates accurately mark the pilgrimage location so other fans can find it
  • The anime title and episode information are correct
  • Do not submit fictional or estimated locations as confirmed pilgrimage spots

CG4. Respect for Locations and Local Rules

Pilgrimage sites remain open to fans because of the respect shown by those who visit. Please:

  • Comply with posted rules and any restrictions set by the property owner or local authority
  • Do not trespass or enter areas not open to the public
  • Be mindful of local residents — avoid noise, littering, and obstructing traffic

CG5. Prohibited Content

Good-faith contributions are always welcome. The following types of content cannot be published on Anime Pilgrimage:

  • Copyright infringement: Content that infringes the copyright or other intellectual property rights of any person or organization
  • AI-generated images: Photos or videos generated by AI and presented as real location shots
  • Unrelated content: Posts that are not related to anime pilgrimage locations (e.g., general travel photos, food photos, selfies without location context)
  • Adult or explicit content: Sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate material
  • Harassment: Content that targets, threatens, or demeans individuals or groups
  • Spam: Duplicate posts, irrelevant content, or posts submitted for promotional purposes
  • Misinformation: Intentionally false location data or anime attribution
  • Privacy violations: Photos where a clearly identifiable individual is the unintended main subject and has not consented to being photographed
  • Restricted locations: Posts designating a location as a pilgrimage site, or photos taken at a location, where general public access is not permitted — including private residences, apartment buildings, school grounds, restricted facilities, or any area not ordinarily open to the public, even if such locations appear in anime
  • Illegal content: Anything that violates any applicable law or regulation

CG6. Moderation

Posts are published immediately and visible to the community. They are subject to moderation, and we may review submissions at any time at our sole discretion.

If a post is found to violate these guidelines, we may reject, remove, or make it private without prior notice and without any obligation to provide a reason. If your post is removed, you may submit a new post that meets these guidelines. Repeated submissions of prohibited content may result in account suspension or permanent termination.

CG7. Reporting Content

Help us keep Anime Pilgrimage a reliable guide for fellow fans. If you spot a post that violates these guidelines, please let us know:
